Literacy
Literacy skills are the foundation for all other learning at school.
It is the main priority from day 1 at school.
Our children are assessed in their literacy knowledge within the first few weeks of starting school and they are grouped for learning to read straight away. Although we have children from Steiner kindy, we have a totally opposite philosophy.
We believe in:
- deliberate teaching of reading and writing
- saturation with books
- providing a print-rich classroom
- stimulating colours, shapes and pictures
- evaluating
- individual learning needs and targetting them quickly
We provide a range of remedial oral and reading group instruction, as well as providing extension for the bright and gifted.
