E-learning at Otonga

At Otonga we believe in the benefits of a blended learning environment where digital tools stand alongside pen and paper in our learning journeys. We provide digital tools for all classrooms in our school - each class has at least 4 desktop computers and 4 ipads. Everyone also has access to a fully equiped computer suite, video and sound recording tools, digital microscopes, and our weather station.

Our year 3-6 children all have GAFE (google) accounts so they can collaborate together online and have personal learning blogs. Year 3/4 and 5/6 classrooms have a range of tools including laptops provided by the school. Each room has at least 12 devices for the children to share. In 2015 some rooms have also begun to offer an optional BYOD programme. See the BYOD page for more info.

What happens if/when my child leaves Otonga?

Your child's Goodle account stays with the school and is deactivated. The child's Google drive can be downloaded to a home computer to be kept if desired. The childs blog will become a static blog (uneditible) on the internet. Families can continue to view it at the blogs unique URL address. You should recieve this along with instructions on how to download from Google Drive, from the classroom teacher on leaving the school. A copy is also below.
