BYMC (Bring Your Managed Chromebook)

Bring Your Managed Chromebook

Our children are using devices more regularly in their learning and in the sharing of their learning with their whanau. With the implementation of the new Digital Technologies Curriculum and the improved abilities of our students to use devices for learning we are finding it is necessary to have more than one group using devices at at time.

To meet our growing need it is recommended that students in Years 4-6  have their own chromebook. These are used as a tool for learning.

Otonga School currently has a BYMC (Bring Your Managed Chromebook) policy in place as well as an E-values learning agreement. The Ministry of Education pays for the chrome license for each child’s device, the school manages the device according to your signed BYMC Agreement. This will establish that chromebooks are used for learning purposes only and ensure the online safety for our students at school and at home.

Purchasing Devices

To support parents, we have contacted Noel Leeming, Harvey Norman and Warehouse Stationery to forward brochures with special deals for chromebooks. We will pass these on as we get them.

Families are able to purchase from anywhere they choose.

Newly purchased devices need to be set up before they can be used at school. Talk to the classroom teacher about the process for this.

All chromebooks will be set up at the start of the year - bring your device on the first day of school. A BYMC Agreement form will need to be signed beforehand - these are available from the teacher or downloaded from the button/link below.
