2024 Rotorua Junior Tough Guy & Gal Challenge – Registration Notice (Due via KINDO by 9am on Friday 9th August 2024)

This extreme off road running event takes place on Thursday 29th August at Lakes Ranch. Year 3-6 boys and girls are invited to compete in this exciting and fun event.


Cost: $38 per student (includes bus & event entry)


Course: 1.5km for school years 3 & 4 and 3km for school years 5 & 6


Entries Close: Friday 9th August at 9am


The registration notice is attached, please view to read more about this event, such as important information on what to wear and bring, when to arrive at school in order to catch the event bus on time and the ‘Waiver & Release Statement’ which needs to be agreed to in order for your child to compete.


Registrations along with PAYMENT need to be completed by 9am Friday 9th August. Please register & pay online 24/7 via KINDO (No late entries will be accepted).

As Returning Officer I have the responsibility of informing all voters and the school community of the results of the Otonga 2024 Board of Trustees Parent By-election.



The results of the 2024 BOT Parent By-election are as follows:
71  –  Kathryn McMurdo (23%)
68  –  Joseph Te Horowai Brown (22%)
59  –  Catherine Monkhouse (19%)
48  –  Sebastian George Jew (16%)
30  –  Mikail Steens (10%)
28  –  Jacobus Lukas Marthinus Meyer (9%)

Hope for Tomorrow for Te Waarakihi – Saturday 8th June from 5-8pm

Speakers include – Carolyn CRUMP from NZBMR speaking about the Bone Marrow Register, Debbie TEREI (comedian Pio TEREI’s wife) from Trust TEINA and Keri TOPPERWEIN from the Dream Catchers Foundation.

Rotorua Mini Marathon (Friday 3rd May 2024) TODAY!

٩(❛ᴗ❛)۶ Yippee!!! Today is the Rotorua Mini Marathon.


Please have students at school well before 9am, so classes can be organised before getting on the bus.


All parents are welcome to come and watch/cheer/support. Meet us in the Energy Events Centre carpark at around 9:30am and look for the Otonga School flag.


Students will need: a hat, suitable clothes & footwear for running and a named drink bottle.


Spectator Parking: Telly Tubby Hill field (via Memorial Drive) will be open for spectator parking ONLY until the first race kicks off and then it will be closed. There will be no parking available for spectators inside of the Energy Event Centre car park.

Seesaw

Seesaw is a platform for student engagement that inspires students of all ages to do their best, and saves teachers time! Students use creative tools to take pictures, draw, record videos and more to capture learning in a portfolio. Teachers find or create activities to share with students.The Seesaw platform is used for homework activities as well as in class work.

Parents are also notified by the class teacher about classroom and school activities and events via the Seesaw platform. Parents can also Seesaw their child’s teacher.

Families only have access to their child’s journals. This means you will see student work tagged with your child’s name and posts the teacher tags with ‘Everyone’. Families can also see any comment made by another user on their child’s journal posts.
